Church Ministries
The Church Softball Team won the Carlisle Area Church Softball League’s B Division Championship! They defeated Barnitz/Mt. Zion UMC 14-13 in 10 innings on Aug. 1! The guys thought the game would never end. There are so many who deserve our gratitude for this incredible season. We thank Ken Pannebaker for preparing and maintaining the field and Dick Clelan for coaching. We also thank Cathy Raraigh and her crew for running the concession stand, which took in $1000.00 this season! The team appreciated all the church members who supported and cheered, and finally, we thank God and give Him the glory for all that was accomplished. Now, it is up to us to help this ministry grow our church and make more disciples of Jesus Christ.
Small Group Opportunity: This fall a small group on marriage will be offered using material based on the movie FIREPROOF. Here is how it will work. The movie will be shown to the whole church on Sunday evening, October 25, 6:30 PM. Then, those who are interested in participating in the study, which will meet in members’ homes and lasts for 8 sessions, are to come to church the following Sunday, November 1, 6:30 PM to set meeting dates, times, and locations. Those who cannot make the October 25th showing may take the movie home and watch it when convenient. A copy of the movie is in the church library. Spread the word and invite others outside Waggoners Church to join in. A sample study guide, entitled “The Love Dare” is on the Sharing Table. Look it over after worship. Married couples will benefit most from this experience, but we are not just limiting the group to married couples. Engaged couples and singles may participate. Just understand that some study questions are geared to those who are married. If interested, fill in the appropriate form in the sign-up books that are passed around during the announcement time. Questions may be directed to Pastor Tim at 243-2261.
